Spot Solana exchange-traded funds posted their first weekly outflow since they launched a year ago, losing $24.8 million in the week to October 9 and ending a record 14-week run of inflows. US Ether and Bitcoin funds fell too.
The figures come from SoSoValue data, first laid out by The Block. Across all three categories, US spot crypto ETFs shed about $1.25 billion over the week.
Solana ETFs break a 14-week run
That $24.8 million outflow was small next to the sums moving through bitcoin and ether funds. What made it stand out was the streak it broke. Spot Solana (SOL) ETFs had drawn new money for 14 straight weeks, the longest such run since the products went live in late October 2025. Two weeks earlier they had taken in a record $188.2 million in a single week. The reversal was also their largest weekly outflow since launch, about three times the previous record of $8.9 million set in early February.
Bitwise's BSOL fund did most of the damage. Its $20.9 million weekly outflow was about 84% of the category total and the fund's worst week on record. Money left on all five trading days. Five sessions. All red. Only two funds, Morgan Stanley's MSOL and Invesco's QSOL, finished the week in the black, with about $2 million in combined inflows. Total assets across the Solana funds fell to $1.73 billion, down from $1.90 billion, after peaking near $1.96 billion on September 25.
Ether funds post their worst week since January
Ether ETFs lost far more. The funds saw $542.1 million in net redemptions over the week, their heaviest since the week ending January 23, when $611.2 million left. By Friday the run stretched to nine straight trading days, $697.2 million pulled since September 29. For scale, the record is a 17-day stretch last spring that drained about $900.1 million.
BlackRock's ETHA drove almost all of it. Its $477.0 million weekly outflow was roughly 88% of the category, the fund's largest since mid-December. Grayscale's ETHE came second, at $31.9 million. The biggest single day came on Tuesday, a $201.9 million exit that landed as ETHA's one-for-three reverse share split took effect. A reverse split changes the number of shares and their price, not what a holding is worth. So part of that record day reflects plumbing, not panic. Category assets still fell about 10%, to $15.71 billion.
Bitcoin leads the cash exit
Bitcoin led the cash exit. Its funds bled $681.1 million over the week, breaking a three-week inflow streak and marking the worst stretch since late June. One day did the heavy lifting: a $487.1 million outflow on Wednesday. Friday brought a small $21.1 million inflow. An earlier btcnewz report covered the biggest daily bitcoin ETF outflow since June earlier in the month.
Put together, the three fund groups lost about $1.25 billion. That does not erase the year. Ether ETFs still show $931.8 million in net inflows for 2026, down from $1.47 billion a week earlier. Bitcoin funds sit at $494.1 million year to date, with $57.11 billion gathered since they launched in January 2024. Solana's cumulative total stands near $1.58 billion. Neither issuer explained the week's redemptions, and flow data does not record why investors move.
What to watch
Prices held while the money left. Bitcoin traded near $83,660, Ether near $2,535 and Solana near $111 at 00:15 UTC on October 12, according to CoinGecko. That gap between steady prices and steady outflows is the thing to watch. If redemptions keep running while spot holds, it points to profit-taking and rotation, not a broad retreat.

Frequently asked
Why did Solana ETFs see their first weekly outflow?
Spot Solana ETFs recorded $24.8 million in net redemptions in the week to October 9, their first losing week since they launched in late October 2025. Money left on all five trading days, led by Bitwise's BSOL fund. The funds still hold about $1.58 billion in cumulative net inflows since launch.
How bad was the week for Ether ETFs?
US spot Ether ETFs lost $542.1 million, their worst week since the week ending January 23. The selling ran for nine straight trading days through October 9, totaling $697.2 million since September 29. BlackRock's ETHA accounted for about 88% of the weekly outflow, part of it tied to a reverse share split.
Do ETF outflows mean crypto prices are about to fall?
Not on their own. In the week to October 9, bitcoin, ether and solana prices held broadly steady even as the funds shed about $1.25 billion. Flow data shows how much money enters or leaves the funds, not why, and all three categories still report positive net inflows for 2026. Treat it as one sentiment signal among many.
